Renata Liguori

I joined CTC as an intern in 2021 whilst I was in my second year of university. I was studying a business degree with a major in marketing and after meeting Chris (through being one of my clients at my previous role at flight centre), I knew that it would be a great opportunity for me to learn about the internal aspect of how businesses operate in a niche that was foreign to me. I spent 4 months at CTC learning some valuable skills which assisted me in my degree, as well as set me up for my future ventures.

During my time at CTC, I completed assistant tasks such as screening resumes for potential employees, helping in payroll duties, wrote job advertisements for roles, sat in business meetings and interviews as well as being lucky enough to work closely together with the CTC team to structure a program for future interns. I was fortunate enough to help create this program to develop a pathway for other university students who were in my position and to help make the process easy for the team at CTC. I felt very lucky to have the support of the team who always answered any of my questions and who were helpful towards my development and learnings.

Completing an internship for CTC allowed me to gain many valuable skills such as refreshing both my written and interpersonal communication skills within businesses and helped me become confident within a different niche. I was heavily hospitality and customer service based, so working within recruitment taught me a lot about the HR perspective, as well as giving me confidence towards how to behave and respond towards my own interview experiences. I learnt the complexities of business environments and the hard work that goes into structuring businesses- and how teams that work closely together create successful and comfortable environments for all involved. Even after finishing my internship, I communicated with the team who continued to answer any questions or provide me with any support that I needed.

I have now completed my business degree with flying colours, and I am soon making the move overseas to Toronto to pursue a career in the corporate world. I was working as a marketing coordinator for a small Adelaide social media marketing agency which I enjoyed whilst finishing my studies. Even though I am unsure as to which industry I will work, I know that through my studies and through my internship at CTC, I have pathed myself a valuable pathway. I am excited to see where my skills and experience take me, and I thank CTC for their support throughout my time as their intern and for allowing me into their business to learn from them.
